Yamunotri Dham

The first part of the journey takes you towards the Yamuna valley and the sacred Yamunotri shrine.

For most road-based itineraries, the vehicle journey takes travellers towards the Yamunotri approach area, followed by the trek towards the temple.

This is one reason why the Yamunotri day should not be treated as an ordinary sightseeing stop.

The official temple committee identifies Gangotri as being in Uttarkashi district and notes that accommodation directly at Gangotri is limited, with additional hotel options available in Uttarkashi.

Badrinath Dham

Badrinath brings the pilgrimage into the Alaknanda valley and is generally approached by road.

The final part of a Char Dham journey can still be tiring, particularly after Yamunotri, Gangotri and Kedarnath.

For that reason, our itinerary planning does not assume that travellers will automatically be comfortable with a long road journey immediately after Kedarnath.

The official temple committee provides accommodation information for Badrinath and nearby locations, subject to availability.

The Uttarakhand Tourist Care portal currently provides online Char Dham registration and explains a process involving selection of travel dates, Dhams and pilgrim details, followed by generation of a Yatra Registration Letter. The portal also states that pilgrims and vehicles need registration and that verification is carried out at destinations.

For 2027, travellers should not rely on old registration dates, quotas or rules.
